DESCRIPTION:
As a Commercial Construction Estimator you will have the opportunity to: Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned. Review incoming bid solicitations for relevancy and fit. Maintain an updated bid schedule. Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Assist in preparation of preliminary schedules as necessary for estimates. Prepare detailed takeoffs. Consult with clients, subcontractors, vendors, or other individuals to develop a complete scope of work and estimate. Work with engineers to develop bid designs for delegated design scopes. Obtain knowledge of project and appropriate regulations required to construct the project. Review and analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes for accuracy and completeness. Utilize and maintain historical data in preparation of bids. Monitor client changes and advise the estimating team of all changes in scope during the estimate period. Follow awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits. Work with the project management team on final buyout of materials and subcontractors. Prepare turnover packages for awarded projects for project management team. Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current/accurate information on prices from suppliers and subcontractors. Search and analyze options for most effective means and methods of construction. Understand best value approach to winning new work. Perform additional duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS:
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred 2 or more years of relevant estimating experience with a working knowledge of cost control, schedule tracking, material pricing & estimating techniques. Experience in water treatment, wastewater, and commercial space construction is highly preferred. Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating software preferred Design/Build Experience is a plus Ability to work under pressure and schedule restraints Excellent time management skills and logical decision-making ability Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team Excellent written and oral communication is a must Ability to work with personnel at all levels, both internal and external to the organization
