Position Description

Perform, supervise and/or coordinate facility maintenance activities within legally allowable scopes and tasks, such as electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, controls, civil, structural, general carpentry, painting, etc.

Tasks Perform schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skillset. Patrol and monitor work areas and examine tools and equipment in order to detect unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules. Monitor work levels and review work performance. Examine objects, systems, or facilities, and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs. Participate in budget preparation and administration, may assist in coordinating purchasing and documentation, and monitoring departmental expenditures. Oversee subcontractors when applicable Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts. Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor, and outside contractors. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders. Attend, conduct or arrange training in safety, repair, and maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use. Tools & Technology

Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance. Personnel and Human Resources - Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems. Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Experience

Education

A high school diploma or GED certificate is required. Some may require a formal training course to obtain a license/designation/certification, training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, an associate or a bachelor's degree.
