Parks and Recreation Assistant

Campbell County's Parks and Recreation Department is currently seeking a part-time assistant. This assistant will have a variety of duties that they may be helping with depending on current need. This position will work approximately 15 hours per week. The schedule will fluctuate depending on events and what the current sports season is. There are some evenings and weekends required.

General Duties Assists in the execution of youth/adults sports programs, camps, and special events. Provides support to the Athletics Program Manager(s)/ Youth Program Coordinator(s) in all aspects of program development and delivery. Recreation Duties

Helps implement and supervise youth/athletic sport and recreation activities. Assists with coach and volunteer communications and training logistics. Provides on-site supervision of recreation events and programs, including setup and takedown. Acts as a point of contact for participants and parents during programs. Administrative & Operational Duties

Assists with program supply inventory, ordering, and budget tracking. Assists with distributions of athletic program equipment to coaches/volunteers. Submits basic facility and field maintenance needs to the appropriate staff. Supports field preparation and setup, including cross-training with Parks & Recreation Maintenance for marking and light maintenance. Communications & Outreach

Represents Parks and Recreation at community events and outreach initiatives. Helps gather feedback from participants and families for program improvement. Other Responsibilities

Serves as support staff for other department events and activities as needed. Provides backup for other Parks and Recreation staff during absences or peak times. Participates in CEQL special events, as assigned. Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgement, and work well with people of all ages and abilities. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with children, parents, coaches, and volunteers in a professional manner. Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Basic knowledge of recreation and athletic programming. Comfortable using computer software like Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Qualifications • High School diploma or GED; • 1 year of related experience • Valid Virginia Drivers' License; • Completion of National Incident Management System (IS-100 and IS- 700 or NIMS equivalent) within 90 days of employment.
