General Statement of Duties:
The Student Director, Events Coordinator, plays a vital leadership role in the Career Development Center by overseeing the planning, execution, and evaluation of all department-sponsored events. This student leader will work closely with other Student Directors and the broader CDC team to ensure events are well-organized, strategically marketed, and effectively executed to support student engagement and employer connections.
The Student Director, Events Coordinator, ensures CDC events run smoothly and meet student and employer needs. Through leadership in planning, collaboration with peers, and the creative evolution of marketing strategy, this role helps elevate the Career Development Center's visibility and relevance across campus.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Student Directors of Corporate and Experiential Learning, Student Engagement, and Marketing to support and manage all aspects of CDC-sponsored events. Work directly with the Student Director, Student Engagement, to align outreach efforts, boost student participation, and ensure the student voice is integrated into event planning. Enter event details into Trello and maintain up-to-date task lists to ensure transparency and accountability across the team. Supervise Peer Assistants, set and manage deadlines for assignments related to event planning and execution. Develop and oversee communication strategies for each event, including email outreach, social media posts, and campus promotions. Lead the CDC's marketing strategy transition from traditional flyers to short-form videos (e.g., TikTok, Instagram Reels) that creatively promote events and drive engagement. Track event registration and attendance trends, adjusting marketing strategies as needed to maximize participation. Ensure all event-related activities remain on schedule and aligned with established timelines. Serve as the central point of contact for event logistics, including materials, room reservations, and post-event follow-up. Participate in weekly CDC team meetings and provide regular event updates, progress reports, and insights on strategy improvements.
Requirements:
Qualifications: Strong organizational and project management skills. Experience using or willingness to learn Trello or other task management tools. Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with peers and staff. Creative thinker with an interest in digital content creation and student engagement. Comfortable using video editing tools or willing to learn. Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and time management skills. Comfortable analyzing data (such as registration numbers) and adapting strategies accordingly.
