Job Description
Seeking to fill this position in early October, 2025. Performs maintenance, and repairs for heating (including hot water and steam boilers as well as other pressure vessels), ventilating, air conditioning (including cooling towers, chillers, DX units and air compressors), water treatment, humidification and hot water systems to include controls, both pneumatic and DDC.
Responsibilities
Performs all functions related to air conditioning and refrigeration systems. This includes servicing and repair of all gas refrigerant systems along with all integrated piping and hardware. Follows established procedures. Position interacts via telephone, written, or verbal work orders with all employee levels with the Support Service department and clients, patients and customers. Monitor HVAC systems and operations. Ensures that routine preventive maintenance is performed according to established schedules. Specifically, checks, repairs and/or replaces valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensors, cores, coils, tube bundles, pipes, heat exchangers and other functional components of the systems. Reads, interprets and follows mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, schematics and specifications as well as manufacturer's installation and maintenance directions for HVAC equipment and boilers and associated electrical equipment. Estimates labor and material costs for projects, submits requisition for materials. Inspects completed work to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and local building codes. Responds to fire and disaster drills as assigned. Attends all department/hospital in-service orientation and other meetings as required. Education and/or Experience Required:
Education Required: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience Required: Familiarity with refrigerants and types required. License and/or Certification Required:
Requires minimum S-2 or D-2 license. S-1 License preferred. Asbestos Operations and Maintenance Training per CFR 1926.1101 required annually for CCMC School personnel. CT driver's license and clean driving record required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of oxy/acetylene welding required. Knowledge of Johnnson Control Systems (Medasys) preferred. Ability:
Be flexible and adapt easily to changes in schedule, work assignments, and environment, including working weekends and holidays and on-call hours. Display polite, spirit-of-service attitude towards customer and co-workers. Maintain friendly, efficient and responsive attitude toward client and client's customers/patients while performing job duties. Interact with co-workers in a team atmosphere in order to help find a better way to perform job. To read blue prints desired. Ability to read, follow instructions, and use basic math skills required. To work closely with team members on multiple assignments to meet deadlines, under minimal supervision, is required. To seek solutions to operational barriers and contribute to continuous quality improvement. Must conform to all safety policies and procedures in effect.
