SUMMARY OF PURPOSE This position is responsible for keeping assigned building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established District policies and standards. Critical areas include the maintenance of all assigned building(s) in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. General Maintenance:
Perform minor maintenance repairs in the routine operation of the facilities Basic knowledge of all facility systems, allowing for the daily operation and reporting of needed repairs in writing to the Director of Buildings and Grounds 2. Maintenance of school grounds adjacent to the facilities 3. Daily custodial cleaning of facilities as assigned 4. Supervision of duties assigned to custodians 5. Ordering and inventory of supplies and equipment needed for daily cleaning 6. Routine summer cleaning of facilities as assigned 7. Substitute for custodial staff as assigned, to include all routine custodial duties 8. Prioritize duties to address emergencies as needed 9. Move materials from one facility to another as required 10. Unload and load supplies, materials and equipment as required 11. Perform routine monthly check-ins with each assigned custodian during their regular shift 12. Attend meetings as directed 13. Adherence to all Custodial Department requirements 14. Other duties as assigned by Director of Buildings and Grounds and/or Building Administrator

OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret written and verbal information
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures using standard monetary denominations; Ability to apply standard concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
Reasoning Ability:
Able to solve practical problems and deal with several variables at once; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Other Required Skills and Abilities:
Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements
SCOPE AND IMPACT This position accomplishes most tasks through standard procedure, exercising independent judgment when necessary. Internal contacts include students, District administrators, teachers, and classified staff. External contacts may include parents, community members, School Board members, and any other business or school related entities.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS A high school diploma or equivalent or 3 months related experience and/or training is required. The following clearances must be provided upon hire and updated every five years in accordance with Act 153: PA State Police- Act 34, Child Abuse-Act 151, and FBI Fingerprint-Act 114. Child Abuse training (or proof of completion) in accordance with Act 126 upon hire and repeated every five years thereafter. A negative TB test is required upon hire.
