Sales and Event Manager.
Position Summary:
A Sales & Events Manager in a hotel is responsible for driving revenue through catering sales & upselling conference services while ensuring exceptional guest service. This role involves developing and implementing sales strategies, managing client relationships, and coordinating with various hotel departments to execute events and maintain high service standards. The manager also focuses on maximizing revenue, building strong client relationships, and contributing to the hotel's overall success.
What will you be doing most days?
Sales and Revenue Generation:
• Developing and executing catering sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
• Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, including corporate clients, event organizers, and individual guests.
• Negotiating contracts and closing deals to secure profitable business.
Client Relationship Management:
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
• Manage existing accounts and follow up with client re-solicitation to capture future business
• Follow up with client's post-event to ensure satisfaction and solicit feedback and future business.
• Providing excellent customer service and ensuring guest satisfaction.
Event Coordination:
• Working with the client & hotel team to coordinate and execute events, ensuring a seamless experience for clients.
• Prepare customized proposals, contracts, and event orders (BEOs) in alignment with client needs and hotel/venue standards.
• Coordinate all event details including room layout, audiovisual, food and beverage, timelines, and special requests.
• Collaborating with other hotel departments, such as food & beverage, AV, housekeeping, and front desk, to ensure smooth operations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the planning process and during on-site execution.
Marketing and Promotion:
• Collaborating with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns.
• Representing the hotel at sales meetings, trade shows, and networking events.
• Proactively solicit new catering business through prospecting, networking, and cold calling.
• Respond promptly to incoming inquiries for catering events, providing detailed proposals and pricing.
• Conduct client site visits and walkthroughs, showcasing the property's event spaces and capabilities.
• Create and maintain relationships with local businesses, event planners, and vendors.
• Collaborate with the culinary and banquet teams to create customized menus and service experiences.
• Prepare and review contracts, ensuring all event details and client expectations are accurately documented.
• Coordinate with operations teams to ensure successful event execution and client satisfaction.
• Maintain detailed client records, sales activity reports, and forecasts using hotel systems (e.g., Delphi, Opera).
• Meet or exceed monthly and annual catering sales goals as set by the Director of Sales or Catering.
• Stay updated on industry trends, competitive set, and market conditions.
What are the requirements for this position?
• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or related field (preferred).
• Strong understanding of banquet and catering operations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple clients and events simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with sales or CRM systems is a plus.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by events.
• Strong sales and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of the local market and competitive landscape.
