Join Evelyn's House as a Patient Care Manager to provide servant leadership in building the culture while managing multiple high level priorities.

Evelyn's House Hospice care is designed to offer patients and families an alternative choice in special circumstances such as the short-term management of pain and symptoms, respite for caregivers, and when care in the family home is not feasible. Evelyn's House supports pediatric patients as well as adults.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about hospice, have supervisory experience and some hospice out-patient experience as well.

Working hours will vary based on the needs of the program including some early morning and Saturday working hours.

Overview

BJC Home Care

offers patients and their families a complete range of home care services, including skilled nursing services, adult and pediatric hospice and supportive care, rehabilitation therapy, home infusion therapy, infusion treatment rooms, home medical equipment and high-tech respiratory care. Specialty home care programs also are available, including adult and pediatric asthma, cardiac, diabetes, orthopedic and wound care programs.

BJC Home Care provides care to thousands of patients in both Missouri and Illinois. Serving more than 25 counties, it has become the largest home care network in the region and one of the largest in the country.

Evelyn's House is the newest addition to BJC Hospice and BJCs continuum of care for patients with life-limiting illness. Evelyn's House staff are sensitive to the physical, psychosocial, emotional and spiritual needs of terminally ill adult and pediatric patients and their families. We provide a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals and volunteers, specially trained in pain and symptom management, counseling, and bereavement services for the dying. BJC Hospice services include alternative therapies such as music, art and massage therapy. BJC Hospice programs provide palliative care by helping patients manage their pain and symptoms while living their lives with daily peace and dignity.

Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Responsible for the operational and clinical management of a designated patient care unit(s) on a 24 hour basis. Oversees a span of control and financial responsibility of > 40 FTEs supervised + > $1.5 million in total expenses OR > 24 FTEs supervised + > $3.5 million in total expenses.

Responsibilities

Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.

Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.

Directs the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care governed by evidence based clinical and management practice.

Ensures team compliance with departmental policies, regulatory requirements and professional standards; keeps policies and procedures up-to-date and participates in revisions as needed.

Promotes, and is accountable for customer satisfaction, process indicators, quality improvement plans and outcomes in work unit.

Researches, evaluates, selects and implements systems which improve efficiency of work unit operations.

Supports and assists the growth of existing or new business/programs.
