MV Transportation is on the lookout for a dedicated
General Manager of Transit Operations
who will lead and provide direction to our operations team. This role is crucial for ensuring high-quality service delivery in a significant fixed route service across the Greater LA region. The selected candidate will manage daily operations, maintaining compliance with the policies of the contracting agency and our company standards. The ideal candidate is organized, fosters mutual trust, and possesses outstanding customer service skills. This position will be the main point of contact for our clients and will be responsible for the operational success of an innovative transit program. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations and ensure service delivery meets contract requirements. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring adherence to operational contracts and company policies. Enhance customer relations through proactive outreach and direct engagement. Recruit, train, and mentor staff to cultivate a high-performing team. Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with MV values and client missions. Communicate effectively with staff and support teams regularly. Manage the activities of subordinate employees across Operations, Maintenance, Safety, Training, Security, and Administration. Supervise vehicle maintenance to ensure fleet readiness for service needs. Coordinate safety and training programs to comply with company and regulatory standards. Oversee subcontractors to maintain operational efficacy and compliance with contractual standards. Ensure staff are well-trained in utilizing technology to address daily service issues promptly. Engage with clients routinely to exceed expectations. Conduct audits to assess departmental efficiency and optimization. Review operational metrics consistently on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Manage financial metrics for the location, reporting exceptions and creating action plans for resolution. Implement and uphold company policies and procedures. Handle invoicing and reporting requisites for the contract and the company. Participate actively in labor relations and employee engagement activities. Provide insights for contract renewals to ensure successful outcomes. Qualifications: A four-year college degree in a relevant field is preferable, but relevant experience will be considered. Demonstrated extensive management experience is required. A minimum of five years as a general manager managing a revenue fleet of over 100 vehicles. At least eight years of progressive experience in fixed route and demand-responsive transit operations, with ZEB operations experience preferred. Proven ability to innovate and improve service delivery within the community. Expertise in labor union negotiations and managing collective bargaining agreements. Experience in planning and service design is valued. Thorough understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, safety, and compliance with DOT and FTA regulations. Proficiency in MS Office, strong analytical capabilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
