Job Title:
Assistant Manager - CFK Supply Chain
Job Summary:
The Materials Handler plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient flow of goods and materials within the Culinary Finishing Kitchen (CFK). This position is responsible for ordering and receiving supplies, managing inventory, supporting specialized food service operations (including MTC, Special Events, and FSY Pizzas), and training student receivers. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on accuracy and customer service. The Position also covers for the CFK Manager for any Office-related duties.
What you'll do in this position:
Ordering & Receiving Place and track orders for food, supplies, and materials from approved vendors. Receive, inspect, and log incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and compliance with Food Safety guidelines. Coordinate with vendors and internal departments to resolve discrepancies or delays. Source new items needed by the Chefs or CFK Management with Vendor contacts and/or Purchasing Process Receiver documentation for all orders and receipts in inventory systems. Inventory Management
Monitor stock levels and conduct regular inventory counts. Rotate stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste. Update inventory databases and generate reports as needed. Identify and address inventory shortages or overages proactively. Clean and organize storage areas, walk ins, and receiving areas. Special Event Production & Logistics
Coordinate preparation and delivery of pizzas for Missionary Training Center (MTC), FSY programs, and other events (Concessions and Catering orders). Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of orders according to event schedules. Collaborate with other kitchen supervisors to ensure adequate staffing, supervision, and that quality and service standards are met. Provide high quality customer service during events and solve for customer's needs. Training Student Receivers
Train and mentor students and part-time employees on proper receiving, handling, and storage procedures. Responsible for roughly 3 - 6 students per semester. Ensure adherence to safety and sanitation standards. Provide ongoing support and feedback to student staff to promote skill development and efficiency. Provide ongoing reporting to CFK Management regarding systems and improvement recommendations. CFK Manager Coverage
Serve as the "delegate" in Workday for time approvals in the CFK Manager's absence Serve as "delegate" in Workday for expense reporting. Coordinate Office and support staff schedules and daily task lists. Primary contact for scheduling and time off requests. Attend meetings when necessary to provide operation updates and plans What qualifies you for this role:
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU High school diploma or equivalent 1 year of experience in materials handling, inventory, or food service operations A physical exam will be conducted as a part of the hiring process for this position. Physical Effort:
Moderate: - Physical effort represented by frequent handling of medium weight objects (approx. 20-50 lbs.) and materials, or use of medium weight hand tools. May require climbing and working from ladders or in awkward positions. Environment:
Periodic exposure to unfavorable conditions because of unavoidable need to be in variable temperatures or wet environments, etc. Hazards:
Moderate existing or potential hazards such as exposure to extreme temperatures in grill and freezer areas as well as dock and warehouse areas. Preferred Education/Experience:
