YWCA Lancaster is looking for a full-time Director of Development, who is an integral part of our Leadership team.
The Director of Development has a leadership role, reporting directly to the CEO. This Director serves as a member of the Leadership Team, partnering with other leaders to develop and drive forward the organization's key strategies. This role is also responsible for leading the fund development, community engagement initiatives and events, working with board members, and building relationships with donors, staff, and volunteers.
What your day looks like:
Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fund development plan annually which includes major gifts, planned giving, community events, corporate sponsorships, endowments, and other fundraising strategies. Work collaboratively with the capital campaign manager and volunteers to support fundraising strategies and efforts for YForward. Build and maintain relationships with key constituents including grant-making organizations, foundations, major donors, and community stakeholders. Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors and Development Committee to ensure support and participation in philanthropic activities. Responsible for leading efforts around donor stewardship to systematically inform, cultivate, enlist, and continuously upgrade donors. Create regular donor/member appreciation, recognition, and cultivation practices for donors. Explore, cultivate, and capture diverse revenue streams including sponsorships, strategic partnerships, and in-kind donations. Communications & Marketing
Hire, train and supervise the Communications and Marketing staff to ensure overall strategy, planning, coordination, branding, accuracy, and consistency of messaging. Grants
Hire, train and supervise the Sr. Grant Manager Coordinate with CEO to identify and prioritize new funding opportunities. Volunteers & Membership
Provides supervision to the Development and Volunteer Coordinator, who oversees the volunteer program across the organization. General Administration
Ensure the maintenance of constituent management software to track and manage donor information, gifts, and campaign progress. Ensure the constituent management software integrates with the communication platforms. Analyze data to produce reports detailing progress, trends, and outcomes. Ensure accurate and timely record keeping. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
Experience and knowledge of fundraising strategies and principles is a must. Experience and knowledge with a capital campaign is a plus. Management and volunteer management experience is a must. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers to include but not limited to written, verbal and public speaking. Excellent computer proficiency (MSOffice, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook, Bonterra/EveryAction) Excellent interpersonal, sales, and customer service skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to delegate tasks when appropriate.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer and leadership to staff. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within the parameters of instruction given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Demonstrated ability to communicate and hear effectively across differences and reflect and act on feedback related to identity and equity with the aim to learn. Donor and volunteer service mentality. Who you are:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of donor relations and fund development experience, preferably in education, business, marketing, nonprofit fields, or equivalent work experience. Proven track record of success in implementing all aspects of annual fund giving, major gifts, planned giving, funding capital needs, donor prospecting, special events and specific fundraising initiatives. Capital campaign experience is a plus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to think strategically and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Experience with grant writing and management. Familiarity with fundraising software and database and ability to maximize software for revenue growth. Knowledge of Lancaster County is a plus. Experience motivating and working with Board and volunteer members. Ability to handle confidential information are critical. Commitment to YWCA Lancaster mission is required. Work Environment and/or Physical Demands:
Ability to perform the essentials job functions consistently, safely, and successfully. Must be able to lift and carry to up 25lbs. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Travel required; must have reliable transportation. Who we are:
