Job Description
As an Estimator, you'll work closely with project managers, preconstruction teams, subcontractors, and clients to develop accurate, competitive, and strategic bids for a wide variety of commercial construction projects-including healthcare, education, religious, civic, and industrial sectors. Your insights and experience will directly impact the success and profitability of each project pursued.
Lead the full estimating process for negotiated and hard bid projects Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates Develop project scopes and solicit competitive bids from subcontractors and vendors Evaluate subcontractor qualifications and pricing to ensure complete and accurate coverage Collaborate with project teams during design development and preconstruction Maintain historical cost data and contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather project-specific information Participate in project handoffs and support seamless transitions to operations teams MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. The Successful Applicant
3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience (general contractor setting preferred) Solid understanding of construction means and methods, materials, and subcontractor markets Proficiency in estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, or similar tools Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communication Ability to thrive both independently and in a team environment Detail-oriented with a strategic mindset and a passion for problem-solving
