Position Description
KSI Engineering, Inc. is a privately-owned, sole-source service provider of engineering, fabrication, construction, and maintenance services to multiple industries including upstream oil and gas production, natural gas treating and transportation, refining, co-generation, heavy industrial, and all types of pipelines. Prioritizing innovation and technology integration with our day-to-day operations, we are committed to providing best-in-class services to customers while developing and cross-training our team.
Senior Designer's responsibilities will be focused on supporting our existing customer base while also supporting internal stakeholders through the development of KSI-specific standards. Successful candidates will exhibit proven experience in the use of CADWorx and/or Plant3D in their career.
Outstanding candidates should possess strong communication & interpersonal skills, have experience working in design project teams, leading discipline-specific initiatives, and be proficient with techniques and commands.
Position Requirements
Essential Job Functions
1. Prepare 3D models associated with a variety of industry and project scopes of work.
2. Interpret engineering & construction drawings/schematics, including P&ID's.
3. Produce fit-for-purpose design packages catered to the construction/execution teams.
4. Integrate aerial, laser scan, and survey data into 3D models.
5. Participate in site walks with customers and contribute to gathering existing conditions and developing project scope.
6. Responsible for participating in feasibility studies; conceptual studies; process planning; project scoping; economic and alternative technology studies.
7. Contribute to project cost estimating and scheduling; procurement support and expediting; construction management; document management systems.
8. Participate in team meetings and keep active communication with customers and management.
9. Draw master sketches to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions.
10. Work with a project team lead where the team consists of other designers, drafters, construction personnel, and project-specific engineering disciplines.
11. Explain drawings to production or construction teams and provide adjustments, as necessary.
12. Compliance with Environment, Health, and Safety regulatory requirements, applicable code, programs, policies, and procedures.
13. Follow all KSI Engineering, Inc. safety, and customer policies and procedures.
14. Additional tasks as required.
15. Shall perform all physical and mental requirements listed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read and write in English Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions in English Ability to communicate with employees and various business partners in a professional and courteous manner. Excellent knowledge of industry codes, standards, requirements etc. Capable of designing large facilities to customer standards. Knowledge of technology (iPads, cellphones etc.) Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Experience with CADWorx and/or Plant3D Advanced experience with AutoCAD Expert 3D modeling skills Knowledge and experience using survey data as it pertains to 3D model preparation Must be detail oriented Problem solving skills Ability to multitask and prioritize Must be able to work in a team environment Education and Experience
Preferably 6+ years of industry experience
Working Conditions:
The work environment and working conditions described here are representative of those that are typical of the job and must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). Occasional field trips necessary to collect information.
Working Hours:
Normally, a full-time employee will work 40 hours per week, depending on the factors such as weather and schedules. Work schedules and hours may vary depending on specific client locations and projects. In general, applicable work schedules include modified 9/80 and 5-8's. All labor laws in reference to rest breaks and meal periods will be followed.
