Position Title: Warrior Ridge Day Custodian

Reports to: Building Principal/Facility Director/Custodial Supervisor

Start/End Time: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Lunch: ½ hour

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Terms of Employment: 12-month. Salary and calendar to be established by the Board of Education

Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.

Compensation: According to experience and a competitive salary.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for creating a clean and safe environment in district buildings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Unlock Door # 100 and 101 turn on lights. Lock @ 7:45 a.m. Turn on the bathroom and hall lights Unlock all classroom doors Clean breakfast tables, empty trash, sweep and mop floor. Hallways: Clean and disinfect water coolers Dry mop, wet mop Empty trash cans, clean windows, heat registers Vacuum rugs, spot treat any stains immediately

Bathrooms: Clean and disinfect the floors, sinks, walls, petitions, and toilets (paying close attention to the whole urinal and stool). Empty trash cans and install new liners, empty personal napkin holders and install new liners. Fill all paper products, soap dispensers, clean mirrors.

Keep the equipment clean and in good working order (empty vacuum bags and change pads when needed). Keep your area stocked and organized, make sure all chemicals are properly labeled. Coordinates and participates in the setting up and breaking down of special events. Removes snow and ice from sidewalks. During winter months Responds to non-routine situations regarding clean up, supplies, etc. Secure the building, all main doors should be locked by 7:45 a.m. unless an activity is scheduled or specified by Building Principal or Facility Director. Buff commons and halls when time allowed or when students are not in session or help other custodians in their area. Responds to setups, break down of special events EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Requires 0 to 2 years of job-related prior experience High school or equivalent preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Ability to understand dilution ratios and apply to mixing, cleaning solutions. Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships. Ability to apply common sense to solve some occasional problems. Ability to comprehend memos, letters, and correspondence and share information in one-on-one situations. Ability to make him or herself available for weekend work Ability to adjust his or her work schedule for incidences. EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM THE JOB:

Floor buffer, floor scrubber, riding floor machines, and other custodial equipment. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Requires a concentrated level of attention in an environment. Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, toxic or causative chemicals, biohazardous material, wet, humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasionally required to work in high, dangerous places Exposed to moderate noise levels. Required to wear eye protection. PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

Requires talking, hearing, grasping, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, driving, with hands/arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, or balancing. Regularly required to lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds. Occasionally required to lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires clarity of vision to inspect work for cleanliness, check light bulbs, set up for special events.
