About the Department: Development and External Affairs (DEA) supports SMU by securing funding, promoting engagement, increasing awareness, and supporting student enrollment. It includes offices such as the Office of the Senior Vice President, Annual Giving and Alumni Relations, Development Services, Marketing and Communications, and others. SMU leverages its largest fundraising campaign to enhance academic quality and impact. About the Position: This is an on-campus, in-person role. The Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator is an expert in technical solutions, specializing in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud platform. As part of the leadership team, this role collaborates with departments to design user journeys, ensure data integrity, and utilize data for communications. Responsibilities include user management, audience building, automation, training, and managing communication preferences. The role also involves monitoring email campaign performance and providing insights for improvement. Essential Functions: Collaborate across departments to source and integrate data, manage technical work, and use SQL for data extension management. Design and execute email campaigns and journeys using Salesforce Marketing Cloud tools such as Content Builder, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Web Studio, and Email Studio. Manage and optimize the Preference Center, support users, generate reports, and analyze engagement data. Ensure high deliverability and data quality through audits and troubleshooting. Provide training and support to users, demonstrate platform capabilities, and promote best practices. Support system changes, resolve issues, and stay updated on industry trends to recommend improvements. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred. Degrees in Technology or Communications are desirable. A minimum of five years of relevant experience, including configuring and maintaining Salesforce and digital marketing platforms, is required. Experience in higher education is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with a customer service orientation. Problem-solving, organizational, and attention to detail are essential. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with BlackbaudCRM, integration tools, and Asana are preferred. Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Sales Cloud certifications are a plus. Physical and Environmental Demands: Sit for long periods. Deadline to Apply: Open until filled.
