Position Summary
To give instruction to all ages and levels in Education, Athletics, or Performing Arts. Design instructional programs and demonstrate proper techniques and style to all levels of participants.
Essential Functions
Assist in instruction with sound principles in the area of Fitness. Speak and communicate effectively before small and large groups with poise and enthusiasm. Critique and provide feedback to participants regarding their work and performance. Ensure safety precautions are followed and all class members adhere to safety guidelines. Maintain a safe environment; report any facility issues to the supervisor. Prepare accurate accident and incident reports; address or report unsafe conditions promptly. Follow Salvation Army Policies and Procedures. Create a safe, fun, and engaging learning environment. Maintain professionalism with children, patrons, staff, and management. Communicate openly with supervisors regarding scheduling and coaching. Be punctual and prepared to teach/train. Promote equality and fairness among participants. Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist regularly. Able to lift up to 10 lbs and grasp, push, pull objects. Capable of operating computers, fax, and phones.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years old. Complete all Salvation Army required trainings. Read, write, and communicate in English. Relate well with others. Lift and carry 40 lbs. First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 90 days of employment. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Required certifications to teach Group Exercise or Personal Training. Passion for the class to be taught. Understanding of health benefits of exercise. Comply with health and safety regulations. Maintain good physical and mental health. Keep client information confidential. Maintain a drug- and alcohol-free environment. Effective communication skills with clients and staff. Ability to relate positively and energetically. Maintain a non-judgmental attitude. Professional approach to problem-solving. Work independently and as part of a team. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Empathize and communicate with low-income and vulnerable populations.
