Position Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for maintaining Acadian Contractors Inc.'s quality standards across all fabrication operations, including piping, structural, and vessel projects. This role requires a strong technical background, excellent attention to detail, and effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fabrication quality control, with a strong understanding of applicable industry codes, standards, and customer specifications.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification
Industry certifications relevant to fabrication or quality inspection are a plus but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Attend pre-job and project kick-off meetings as assigned by the Quality Manager
Issue and manage As-For-Construction (AFC) drawings and revisions to fabrication personnel
Interpret and apply job-specific requirements from structural, piping, and vessel drawings
Verify materials, dimensions, and tolerances per AFC drawings and job specifications
Coordinate Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) activities, including issuing POs and directing third-party inspectors using call-out sheets
Conduct 100% dimensional and visual inspections of final fabricated products
Monitor welding operations to ensure adherence to Acadian's approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
Spot-inspect layout and fit-ups using calibrated measuring tools (tape, laser, angle finder, etc.)
Document all inspection results, including sign-offs on QC drawings and ITP/Traveler forms
Confirm welder stencil IDs and ensure accurate heat number documentation on drawings
Manage and maintain job-specific Quality Control (QC) data books in accordance with company and customer expectations
Perform weld parameter monitoring (voltage, amperage, heat input, gas flow) and update monitoring boards daily
Apply \"yellow\" ribbons to equipment upon QC clearance before shop release
Identify, report, and help resolve repetitive quality or workmanship issues with appropriate leadership
Flag hold points or work stoppages and authorize release when resolved
Foster positive relationships with customers and uphold Acadian's commitment to service excellence

Education
High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
Experience
Minimum of 5 years' experience in piping, vessel, and/or structural fabrication
