Job Description
Position Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of power distribution equipment including Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), Power Distribution Units (PDU), and Remote Power Panels (RPP).
Responsibilities
Perform field-based service activities including installation, preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of ATS, PDU, and RPP systems. Support startup and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring proper integration and operational performance. Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions using electrical schematics, diagnostic software, and technical documentation. Maintain accurate service documentation, including service orders, test reports, parts usage, and safety records. Communicate effectively with customers onsite to explain findings, recommend solutions, and identify opportunities for service improvements or upgrades. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales to provide technical feedback and support continuous improvement. Ensure strict compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety procedures at all times. Participate in training and certification programs to maintain technical proficiency and product knowledge. Required Qualifications
Basic to advanced understanding of low and medium voltage power systems and components. Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams and schematic drawings. Proficient in the use of test equipment and diagnostic tools for power systems. Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage service assignments independently or as part of a team. Willingness to travel regularly (domestic and occasional international), including overnight stays. Valid U.S. driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving record. Capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Preferred Qualifications
Technical certification, military training, or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field. Experience with OEM systems including Russelectric, ASCO, GE/ABB, or CAT-ISO. Prior experience in field service environments and/or data center infrastructure. Familiarity with SCADA systems and communication protocols. Ability to independently perform ATS, PDU, and RPP startups, including firmware upgrades and system calibration. CPR, First Aid, and PPE certification (or willingness to complete). Benefits
