The Director of Development (DD) plays a pivotal leadership role in advancing CSW's strategic goals through fundraising, donor engagement, alumni outreach, and public visibility. Reporting directly to the President and working closely with the Board's Advancement Committee, the DD is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive development program that strengthens philanthropic partnerships with individuals, corporations, foundations, and alumni.

This position also provides key support in communications and community relations efforts to elevate the school's reputation and build long-term sustainability. The DD must be a highly motivated, relationship-driven professional with a strategic mindset and a passion for education. Key Responsibilities Strategic Development & Fundraising Lead and implement a strategic development plan that aligns with school priorities and growth objectives Cultivate and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, foundations, and alumni Identify, research, and solicit major gifts, grants, and sponsorships to meet annual and long-term revenue goals Collaborate with the President and Advancement Committee to drive donor engagement strategies and monitor fundraising performance Write compelling grant proposals and interim/final reports to secure local, state, and national funding Donor Stewardship & Communications Oversee stewardship communications, including acknowledgments, impact reports, and donor updates Maintain donor and grant databases; track giving histories, deadlines, and relationship milestones Partner with the Communications Coordinator to develop and manage donor messaging, newsletters, event materials, and annual appeals Prepare and publish the Annual Report, highlighting key school performance data (enrollment, graduation, scholarships, STEM achievements, etc.) Alumni & Community Engagement Formalize and expand alumni outreach efforts to promote ongoing engagement and giving Represent CSW at public functions, community meetings, and development events Plan and execute small and large-scale donor engagement events in collaboration with Communications and Advancement staff Coordinate outreach to prospective supporters and community partners School Advancement Support Serve as an advisor to the President on development strategy, public visibility, and board stewardship Assist in building board and committee capacity to support fundraising goals Provide regular reports to school leadership and the board on development outcomes and goals Critical Experience and Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, or related field At least 2-5 years of demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and donor cultivation, preferably in a school or nonprofit environment Proven ability to secure and manage foundation, government, and corporate funding Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing compelling proposals, appeals, and reports Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a donor-centric approach Familiarity with fundraising CRM software and reporting systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Blackbaud, Donor Search). Skilled in event planning, project management, and collaborative team leadership Comfort and professionalism representing CSW in public and donor-facing roles Preferred: Experience in or strong understanding of the charter school or STEM education philanthropic landscape Knowledge of communications and social media strategy Familiarity with Delaware's education and nonprofit funding ecosystem Additional Information The Director of Development will work on-site with flexibility for off-site engagements.
