Description

GENERAL PURPOSE Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of the City of Yukon parks, facility grounds, and green spaces.

This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Candidate may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties. • Mows, weedeats, and edges City parks and City buildings • Works with various tools including mowers, weed eaters, shovels, rakes, and other tools in the care of City parks • Works to maintain City flowerbeds, trees, and other green spaces • Cleans up trash in the parks • Assists with park projects under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent • Assists with the setup and cleanup of Christmas in the Park on a seasonal basis • Performs other duties as assigned in the care for city parks

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • 18 years of age or older • Availability to work a regular schedule throughout the year • Willingness to learn and prioritize safety • Ability to work individually and on a team • Exhibits responsibility when using City equipment • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Previous experience and knowledge related to mowing, weed eating, edging, and general landscaping in flower beds On-the-job training provided for all employees

PHYSICAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS: • Must be in good physical condition • Good vision to be able to watch for emergency situations in and around work areas • Works in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind for long periods of time • Exposure to allergy causing agents • Subject to sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time • Exposed to intermittent or continued loud and insistent noises • Exposed to slippery and uneven surfaces • Must have strength to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more • Mobility to frequently move one's body from place to place • Hearing and speech to communicate clearly and distinctly, by telephone and in person, within the confinement of a semi-noisy environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: • Must possess proper identification to work • Must pass post offer drug screen • Must pass post offer background test • Must be able to work mornings, afternoons, occasional weekends, and holidays • Occasionally required to work beyond normal work hours or change work hours. This position is not eligible for benefits.
