General Statement of Duties
This vacancy will be open until filled and is for the 25-26SY. Work hours for these positions are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Summer hours are Monday - Thursday, 7 am - 5:00 p.m. Minimum $45,089.24 or 21.68/hour. The salary for this positions will be prorated based upon the official start date.
Essential Duties
Performs routine custodial tasks
- Schedules employees so that adequate coverage is provided not only for normal operating hours but for special events, meetings and classes
- Opens and/or closes the facility, deactivates the alarm system and checks to insure that the facility is secure after closing and activates the alarm system
- Keeps time records
- Recommends termination of services of unsatisfactory custodial workers
- Requests appliances, equipment and cleaning materials orally or in writing
- Plans work and explains and illustrates how it is to be performed
- Observes work performance of subordinates and additional help as needed
- Fires boilers and furnaces to supply adequate heat to building or to provide adequate supply of hot water when heat is not required
- Ensures that adequate supply of oil is maintained
- Reports any defects in performance of boilers and furnaces
- Performs minor repairs such as installing new washers, tightening screws in faucets, opening up stopped-up toilets and repairing and adjusting kitchen appliances
- Performs necessary grounds maintenance as season requires
- Returns to facility after hours when called to clean up after vandalism or other emergency
- Performs overtime work on a scheduled, unscheduled, routine or emergency basis, as assigned
- Performs related work as required
Minimum Qualifications
Grade school completion. Knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment; ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment economically and efficiently; ability to follow simple oral and written directions. Good physical condition required. Ability to work at high altitudes using scaffolds, ladders, etc.
Considerable knowledge of equipment and cleaning compounds to be used and of the possibility of damage to colors and various kinds of finishes and surfaces
- Knowledge of the operation of heating systems in facility to which assigned
- Knowledge of grounds maintenance practices
- Ability to keep records and make reports
- Ability to request necessary appliances, equipment and cleaning materials in writing
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of others
