JOB DESCRIPTION:

Donjon Marine are currently seeking energetic, dependable and reliable individuals to fill the role of Rigger/Laborer in our Salvage and Heavy Lift Division. Experience is preferred, but not required. This is a physically demanding role that involves working in outdoor environments and marine environments.

This unique position as a Rigger/Laborer is a unique career that takes a special kind of individual who can carry out assigned instructions of the Heavy Lift Forman and Crane Operators in supporting a wide range of salvage and heavy lift operations. Donjon Marine is looking for highly motivated Rigger/Laborer who wants to join a team of highly trained professionals to support our Heavy Lift and Salvage Operations.

EXPECTATIONS:

Work with Crane Operators and Forman to choose and attach lifting apparatus to material for transportation by crane or forklift. Provide hand or radio signals to crane operator to ensure the safe movement of materials during crane lifts. Understand lift dynamics and various lift configurations for slings, straps, cable, chain, bracket, and plate clamps. Display working knowledge of shackles, straps, cables, braces, brackets and other rigging tools lift capacities, required maintenance, and safety checks. Safely operate forklifts up to 18 tons to transport materials to various locations in the yard. Control taglines for small and large lifts following directions of the Forman and Operator in charge. Assist in stabilizing materials and vessels after transport with cribbing under the direction of the Forman or Crane Operator. Use various hand and power tools in daily operations to assist in preparation of materials for transport or general clean up after transport. Work as a member of a team demonstrating skills to effectively communicate, adapt, interpret and problem solve. Always embrace safety culture and practice safe job site practices and housekeeping Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with fellow crew members and supervision. Share your knowledge in the trade with other employees, especially those in learning or apprentice roles. Other tasks as needed that may arise in our exciting work environment. Experience is preferred, but not required. All skill levels encouraged to apply. Rigger/Laborer will be expected to work safely as part of a team during heavy lift and salvage operations, supporting any and all rigging and general deck work while also learning basic and advanced salvage and heavy lift evolutions and operations.

Willing to work in multiple roles including: deck work on our crane barges, painting, chipping, grinding, assisting with the setup, rigging, and relocation of objects. Operating fork lifts, performing tasks in varied weather conditions and job site environments and supporting topside salvage and wreck removal activities.

Position will be full time 40 hrs. min per week, based in Port Newark, NJ.

Applicant must be willing and able to travel.

Work is performed in the field. Applicant must have the ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience operating forklifts Ability to communicate in English Knowledge of Crane Hand Signals Ability to Control Taglines for Large and Small Lifts Experience working around heavy machinery.
