The Low Tide Bar & Grill
Server
embodies effortless elegance, seamlessly merging the polished service of fine dining with the
welcoming
spirit of the California coast. This role is all about crafting moments that linger long after the last bite, whether guiding a family celebration or helping a solo traveler savor the easygoing magic of Santa Cruz. Here, every interaction is an opportunity to turn a meal into a memory, served with genuine care and a touch of coastal charm. By delivering
impeccable service , the Server will uphold La Bahia Hotel & Spa's service standards (inspired by Forbes) while elevating our beachfront property.
This role has a start date of 7/28/2025.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITY:
Provide attentive, personalized service that reflects the restaurant's relaxed yet sophisticated island vibe. Guide guests through our innovative, Pacific-inspired menu and craft cocktail program with enthusiasm and expertise. Anticipate needs and read guest cues to pace courses seamlessly, ensuring a natural flow between live music, cocktails, and dining. Create a welcoming atmosphere by engaging with guests authentically-whether explaining a dish's inspiration or recommending a perfect wine pairing. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of seasonal menus, ingredients (e.g., locally sourced seafood, tropical flavors), and preparation techniques. Confidently describe handcrafted cocktails, spirits, and wine selections, emphasizing unique flavors and pairings. Upsell thoughtfully, enhancing the guest experience with curated add-ons like premium oysters, chef's tasting selections, or after-dinner libations. Work closely with bussers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure timely and polished service. Assist in maintaining a visually stunning dining space-reset tables with care, ensuring island-inspired décor (e.g., woven accents, ambient lighting) remains impeccable. Navigate high-energy shifts (including live music events) with poise, multitasking without compromising service quality. Attend daily pre-shift meetings and ongoing training to refine skills and stay updated on menu changes. Adhere to all safety, sanitation, and alcohol service standards. Maintain impeccable grooming standards, wearing the assigned uniform exactly as specified (proper fit, cleanliness, and presentation at all times. Wear the official hotel lapel pin prominently as part of the uniform requirement, unless embroidered onto uniform. Perform all other duties that may be assigned as needed by your manager. QUALIFICATIONS:
(3+) years of serving experience in casual upscale restaurants, luxury hotel and/or resort preferred. Passion for food, mixology, and storytelling-ability to convey the restaurant's island-inspired concept with charm. Strong wine/cocktail knowledge; certification (e.g., WSET, ServSafe Alcohol) a plus. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, music-filled setting while maintaining attention to detail. Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. Multilingual abilities highly preferred Capable of maintaining composure during peak hours Capability to carry trays and service items (Up to 25-30 lbs.) Excellent communication skills Flexible to work in different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays Highly organized with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Ability to work independently and in a team environment
