Job Summary
Under the direction of the Custodial Services Lead, the Custodian will be responsible for routine daily facility cleaning and basic maintenance at District facilities, including but not limited to Park Fitness, Deer Creek Racquet Club (DCRC), Rosewood Beach Interpretive Center (RBIC), Heller Nature Center (HNC), Park Avenue Boating Facility (PABF), West Ridge Center (WRC), and Centennial Ice Arena (CIA).
2nd shift position with hours 1:30pm - 10pm, Wednesday - Sunday
Essential Job Duties
Includes, but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
General Responsible for daily cleaning of all elements of District facilities, including but not limited to restrooms, offices and multipurpose rooms, public spaces, lobbies, hallways, and building surfaces. Upkeep of all floor surfaces, including cleaning, stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing, as assigned. Maintain custodial and laundry supplies inventory, to include creating order sheets on a weekly basis and stocking, as needed. Responsible for set-up or tear down of rooms for special events, as assigned. Report routine maintenance requirements and equipment that is out of order to the Custodial Services Lead or Manager. Assist with routine maintenance issues, as needed. Ensure that all rooms are prepared for opening each day. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and entryways. Apply snow melting materials as needed. Remove all refuse and garbage from facilities by the end of the daily shift. Maintain cleanliness in all the kitchens, including regular defrosting of the refrigerators and cleaning of sinks. Understand the building EAP and respond to emergency calls as deemed appropriate by the supervisor. Performs other related duties as assigned. Facility Specific
Responsible for picking up or return of fitness and recreation equipment to its proper location to keep areas free from obstructions where applicable. Responsible for laundry services during operating hours, which includes emptying dirty bins, washing, folding, and restocking of towels for fitness center and group exercise studios (Recreation Center). Responsible for preparation and delivery of self-service coffee for member during times and at facilities in which this service is offered. Responsible for the setup of gymnasiums for Park District programs as well as contract rentals as directed by the Manager on duty. This includes, but is not limited to, basketball programs, volleyball programs, pickleball programs, and baseball programs at facilities where these are offered. Operate floor sweeping and scrubbing equipment to maintain tennis courts at Deer Creek Racquet Club. Qualifications
Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous custodial experience required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: American Red Cross CPR/ AED Certification
