Description This position is part-time / permanent / non-benefitted. Under immediate supervision, performs responsible semi-skilled custodial and heavy manual work in the care and cleaning of City buildings; does related work as required. Examples of Duties Sweeps, mops, waxes, dusts, polishes and uses buffers on floors; operates carpet shampooers; operates light automotive equipment, runs errands; closes and locks City buildings after late meetings; loads and unloads cleaning and polishing equipment and materials to be transported by truck; prepares quantities of cleaning and polishing materials appropriate for use from bulk containers; washes windows and walls; tends surrounding walks and grounds, including cutting grass and related work.
Typical Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of the seventh grade and some building cleaning experience. General knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment and ability to use them economically and efficiently; ability to understand oral and written directions; ability to get along with others; ability to read and write.
Supplemental Information PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (Reasonable accommodations may substitute for physical requirements listed below):
Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. And maneuver up to 1 mile; must be able to work with large and small objects. This position will work both indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to changing weather, adverse smells and sights, loud smells and repetitive operations.
