The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission (WSCJTC) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Program Specialist 3 (PS3) to support our mission of advancing excellence in criminal justice training, standards, and officer certification This PS3 position is a unique role that will support both the Policy & Accreditation Unit and Certification Hearings. Responsibilities include assisting in policy development and tracking, maintaining accreditation requirements and records, and supporting certification hearings to ensure timely and equitable outcomes. Duties Duties Assigned to this Position Include (but are not limited to): Supports the research, development, and revisions to agency policies and procedures. Ensures policy documents are aligned with current laws, regulations, best practices, and accreditation standards. Assists in organizing feedback and documentation for policy and standard operation procedures (SOP) updates and review and maintains a comprehensive and up-to-date agency policy manual. Assists in coordinating accreditation activities, such as gathering documentation and preparing materials for audits or site visits. Helps maintain accreditation files and track deadlines or required submissions. Provides logistical support during audits, assessments, or mock reviews. Aids in conducting internal reviews or audits to assess compliance with policies and accreditation requirements. Supports data collection efforts and helps identify areas needing follow-up or correction. Assist in developing training materials and presentations related to policies and accreditation standards. Distributes policy updates and ensures staff have access to current documentation. Helps maintain communication with internal bureaus/divisions/programs/units and external accreditation bodies. Supports meeting preparation, scheduling, and documentation related to policy or accreditation discussions. Assists with scheduling certification teleconferences and hearings. This includes coordinating availability of hearing room, panel members, and hearing logistics. Prepare and distribute hearing notices and reminders in accordance with timelines. Prepare hearing room or virtual platforms for proceedings. Support the setting up of recording equipment and/or technical tools used during hearings. Ensure materials and documents are in place. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive case information and hearing records. Qualifications Required Qualifications/Experience:
Four (4) years of professional administrative experience in planning, tracking, analysis, coordination, and consultation. NOTE: An associate's degree in public administration, paralegal studies, criminal justice or business administration or related fields may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and Zoom. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow instructions and work independently and as part of a team. Project coordination involving deadlines and cross-divisional communication. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in public administration, paralegal, criminal justice, or business administration or a related field preferred. Experience supporting policy, compliance, or accreditation activities. Administrative experience in a state or local government agency.
