DIRL/Projects Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician who will be responsible for cabling and termination of various types of telecommunications wiring, including Cat3, Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, CATV, and Fiber Optic Cable. This position involves testing and troubleshooting wiring issues in both Indoor Service Provider (ISP) and Outdoor Service Provider (OSP) environments. Primary Responsibilities: Run new cabling in both new and existing structures. Terminate and test new cabling installations. Conduct testing and troubleshooting of existing cables. Set up new telecommunications frames, ensuring proper grounding for equipment. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Ability to read construction drawings and line diagrams. Reliable and eager to learn various aspects of low voltage. Basic computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook is beneficial. Works well independently and as part of a team. Knowledge in various wiring configurations and terminations. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs consistently. Experience using ladders, power tools, and related equipment. Technical skills and knowledge of the telecommunications industry is preferred. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. Must pass IET in-house training and complete at least 3 online training classes related to the communications industry each year. Confined Space certification preferred. Must obtain access to government facilities; obtaining a Security Clearance is preferred. Potential for travel may be required.
