As a Senior Data Engineering Specialist at Capital One, you will play a vital role in driving a transformative change within our organization. Here's what you'll be doing: Collaborate with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support end-to-end technical solutions. Engage with a talented team experienced in machine learning, distributed microservices, and full-stack development. Utilize programming languages like Java, Scala, and Python, along with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, and cloud-based data warehousing services such as Redshift and Snowflake. Share and grow your passion for technology by keeping up with trends, experimenting with new tools, and mentoring fellow engineers. Work closely with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud solutions that empower millions of Americans in their financial journeys. Perform unit testing and code reviews to ensure high-quality, performance-optimized code. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree 4+ years of experience in application development (Internship experience does not apply) 2+ years of experience in big data technologies 1+ year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud) Preferred Qualifications: 7+ years of experience in application development including proficiency in Python, SQL, Scala, or Java 4+ years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) 4+ years of hands-on experience with distributed data/computing tools (MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL) 4+ years working on real-time data and streaming applications 4+ years of NoSQL implementation experience (Mongo, Cassandra) 4+ years of experience in data warehousing (Redshift or Snowflake) 4+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux including basic commands and shell scripting 2+ years of experience implementing Agile engineering practices Currently, Capital One is unable to sponsor new employment authorization applications, including those for H1B or F-1 work permits. The position offers competitive salary ranges based on location: McLean, VA: $193,400 - $220,700; Plano, TX: $175,800 - $200,700; Richmond, VA: $175,800 - $200,700. Candidates working in different locations may have different salary ranges. This role includes eligibility for performance-based incentives, such as cash bonuses or long-term incentives.
