I. The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for cultivating positive employee-management relationships within a unionized environment, administering and interpreting labor contracts, and managing employee relations and labor relations issues. This role ensures compliance with labor laws and company policies while championing employee engagement and a positive workplace culture.

II. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management or related field, SHRM Certification preferred Five (5) plus years of labor union relations including negotiations, contract interpretations, and grievance process experience Ability to maneuver through tense and sometimes adversarial situations Strong working knowledge of performance management, federal and state employment laws, and labor relations Exceptional conflict management skills Experience developing and/or implementing policies, processes and procedures, and training Experience training managers on labor relations and contract content and understanding Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists Full proficiency in Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio Ability to take ownership and showcase interpersonal skillset Highly effective problem-solving ability Self-driven with the ability to recognize improvement on processes and take initiative to execute changes Focused attention to detail, well-organized and demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks, achieve desired results and adapt favorably to changing priorities Develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results Strong conflict management skills Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels Excellent verbal and written communication skills III. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage and resolve complex employee and labor relations issues by conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations Coordinate and facilitate day-to-day aspects of the collective bargaining agreement including dispute resolution, the grievance process, and reaction to union responses Participate with the Director of Human Resources to interface with the company's labor attorney on aspects of the contract, responses to the union, and other legal matters as necessary Assist with contract negotiations under the direction of the Director of Human Resources Develop various reports using Excel, PowerPoint, etc. to keep management informed of key metrics Investigate employee complaints, grievances, and allegations of misconduct, ensuring fair and objective resolutions while adhering to company policies and legal requirements. Interpret and apply company policies and procedures, as well as relevant employment laws, to ensure compliance and address employee relations issues Provide guidance to managers and employees on various employee relations matters, including employee performance, behavior, attendance issues, corrective actions, and conflict resolution. Facilitate the resolution of workplace conflicts and disputes, aiming for fair and amicable solutions that promote a positive work environment. Providing guidance and support to managers in addressing Identify trends and root causes of employee relations issues, develop proactive strategies to address these issues and enhance the overall employee experience. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, mitigating legal risks associated with employee relations matters Performs other duties as assigned IV. WORKING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Works in a normal office environment with usual pressures of managing personnel and dealing with time constraints. Because of multiple sites within the department and the need to meet with others within the community, it is common to drive to several locations, sometimes in inclement weather.

Salary Description

$70,000-$75,000
