Role Summary

The Acquisition Specialist serves as a senior-level expert in federal acquisition, procurement, and program support. With over a decade of experience, this role supports Government Program Managers in the end-to-end management of acquisition programs-ensuring compliance with federal regulations, optimizing acquisition strategies, and maintaining cost-effective, on-schedule delivery of complex government initiatives. As a primary liaison with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), the Acquisition Professional ensures alignment between contractor performance and government requirements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Acquisition Lifecycle Support

Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of pre-award and post-award acquisition activities across a variety of contract types (FFP, T&M, Cost Plus). Assist in drafting Statements of Work (SOWs), Performance Work Statements (PWS), Independent Government Cost Estimates (IGCEs), Evaluation Criteria, and Acquisition Plans. Provide guidance on source selection strategies, Justifications & Approvals (J&As), and Contracting Officer (KO)/COR coordination. Monitor contract performance to ensure delivery against key performance indicators, compliance benchmarks, and regulatory obligations. Program Management Integration

Partner with Government Program Managers to define acquisition requirements and translate mission objectives into actionable contract deliverables. Conduct risk assessments and mitigation planning to ensure acquisition and program stability. Develop and track milestones, schedules, deliverables, and budgets to maintain program alignment and fiscal responsibility. Provide administrative and technical oversight across program documentation, reporting, and contract modifications. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

Ensure full compliance with the FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific acquisition policies throughout all procurement phases. Support audits, reviews, and data calls, including oversight of compliance with quality assurance surveillance plans (QASP) and contractor performance reporting (CPARS). Lead or contribute to acquisition strategy reviews and internal control improvements. Stakeholder Management

Serve as the primary interface with Government COR and technical stakeholders, facilitating communication between government teams and contractors. Support program reviews to inform acquisition planning and program execution. Prepare and deliver acquisition briefings, status updates, and risk assessments to senior leadership. Key Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, Public Administration, Engineering). 12+ years of experience in federal acquisition, contract management, or program management. 10+ years of experience in supporting large-scale acquisition programs, including high-dollar value contracts and multi-year initiatives. Demonstrated experience supporting Government Program Managers in acquisition planning and execution. Familiarity with multiple federal contracting environments (DoD, Civilian, Intel). Proficiency in acquisition documentation, FAR/DFARS compliance, and performance management. Track record of ensuring program compliance, risk mitigation, and quality delivery under strict federal guidelines. Preferred Qualifications

Advanced coursework or training in acquisition, contract management, or program management is highly desirable. Certifications : FAC-P/PM or DAWIA Level III in Program Management or Contracting Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or equivalent preferred Skills and Competencies

Acquisition & Contracting Knowledge

Deep knowledge of acquisition planning, contract formation, and administration. Strong familiarity with contract vehicles such as GSA Schedules, GWACs, IDIQs, and BPAs. Proficient in FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific supplements and clauses. Skilled in price and cost analysis, market research, and negotiation support. Program & Administrative Oversight

Proficient in scheduling tools and contract tracking systems (e.g., MS Project, PRISM, FPDS-NG). Ability to develop and manage acquisition schedules and milestones in coordination with program teams. Skilled in documentation quality control, records management, and acquisition package development. Communication & Stakeholder Engagement

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with Contracting Officers, CORs, and program stakeholders. Strong presentation and briefing skills, with experience leading acquisition and program status reviews. Effective collaborator within cross-functional teams including legal, finance, technical, and operational staff. Problem-Solving & Process Improvement

Exceptional analytical capabilities to identify, assess, and resolve acquisition risks and operational constraints. Adaptive thinker capable of balancing strategic direction with tactical execution in dynamic environments. Continuous improvement mindset focused on increasing acquisition efficiency, cycle time reduction, and cost-effectiveness.

Salary Range

$80,000-$112,500 USD
