Position Summary:
Lead and coordinate multi-craft mechanical maintenance-including routine, turnaround, and outage work-at Citgo's Corpus Christi refinery. Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures, regulatory compliance, PMP schedules, and cost controls. Collaborate closely with Citgo operations, reliability, and turnaround teams to optimize refinery uptime and equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
Champion and enforce CAM's safety culture by ensuring proper completion of Pre-Task Analysis cards and Safe Performance Audits (SPA).
Lead or participate in regular field-level safety audits and facilitate weekly and bi-weekly toolbox talks.
Oversee immediate reporting and escalation of any incidents, near misses, or safety concerns in alignment with CAM and client expectations.
Ensure new hires receive thorough safety orientation and all re-training is conducted in a timely manner.
Promote active participation in Safety Observation Reports (SORs) and follow up on corrective actions.
Oversee and manage implementation of CAM's Short Service Worker program on site.
Administrative Leadership:
Monitor adherence to CAM's Alcohol & Drug Policy, promptly addressing and escalating any violations.
Apply the applicable Collective Agreement appropriately to support efficiency, workforce relations, and cost containment.
Address employee performance or personal concerns through proactive coaching and engagement with available support resources.
Conduct regular employee check-ins and maintain documentation of performance conversations and corrective actions.
Ensure accurate, timely submission of daily time sheets, including time slips, helping hands, and craft role changes.
Identify and train backups for key site roles including supervisors, planners, and work coordinators.
Recognize and encourage high performance through on-site recognition programs and CAM's Value Plus initiative.
Maintain fairness in distributing overtime and managing vacation scheduling to meet site manpower requirements.
Administer tool control systems and ensure equipment is tracked, stored, and used responsibly.
Act as a key liaison between CAM field employees and client representatives, maintaining professional and productive working relationships.
Support the coordination of after-hours or weekend call-outs by ensuring team readiness and awareness of procedures.
Work Execution & Planning:
Match employees to tasks based on their trade, experience, and certification levels; pair new hires with experienced mentors.
Monitor field compliance with work processes and escalate any issues affecting safety or productivity.
Provide direct supervision and logistical support during outages, shutdowns, and unplanned plant events.
Coordinate daily with schedulers and planners to ensure alignment between workforce availability and the maintenance schedule.
Participate in Root Cause Investigations (RCIs) and support implementation of lessons learned to improve future job execution.
Ensure infrastructure elements such as break rooms, lunchrooms, lockers, and shift turnover spaces are functional and well maintained.
Communicate daily updates including manpower changes, overtime needs, and emergent work through CAM's reporting structure.
Support leadership in annual review of craft trade responsibilities and integration planning.
Qualifications:
10-15+ years of multi-craft mechanical maintenance experience in refining/petrochemical environments.
Proven track record supervising shutdowns/turnarounds.
Strong oral/written communication skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, CMMS, and scheduling tools.
Valid TWIC card and driver's license.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
Experience with outage management, conflict resolution, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge of mechanical integrity, fixed equipment standards (ASME/API), and Citgo's operational excellence framework is a plus.
