Employment Specialist/DDP

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under minimal supervision, carries out the services of a Supported Employment program by assisting individuals obtain & maintain competitive employment in the community that is consistent with their vocational goals. Assist individuals in obtaining information about their benefits & how working effects benefits; Assess individuals' vocational functioning on an ongoing basis utilizing background information & work experience; Develop individualized employment plan with individual; Conduct job development & job search activities based of individual preferences; Provide individualize follow-along supports to assist individuals in maintaining employment.

Other duties to include:

Complete Discovery on all assigned individuals (approx. 40 hours per individual) Work with Instructors and individuals to create resumes/visual resumes, to perform job searches, and to prepare for interviews Participate in employer engagement, job development, job carving, and job coaching Interface with the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency and the GA Dept. of Education

This position involves consistent interaction with individuals, their family members, coworkers, supervisors, potential employers, and support coordinators in an effort to provide the best possible service and individual outcomes. Documents all daily contacts and completes individual progress summaries. Must have basic PC competency and will be required to utilize electronic medical records in lieu of paper charts on a daily basis.

Minimum Training, Competency & Experience:

Completion of a high school diploma or equivalent with 3 years of experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing employment services, and job development/knowledge of the working world. Must possess the ability to work as an effective team player is essential.

Preferred Qualifications : Ideal applicant will possess Bachelor's Degree

in Social Services

with one year of experience providing employment support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Must have a valid Georgia's driver's license and will be required to provide a 3-year Motor Vehicle Report if selected for an interview.

Pre-employment drug screening may be required. Selected applicant will be subject of an FBI Criminal History Record Check, and the applicant has the right to challenge the contents of their Criminal History Record Information, should they choose to do so.
