POSITION SUMMARY The Telemetry/Monitor Technician is responsible for accurate record keeping, observation of monitors and prompt reporting of cardiac rhythm changes. The Telemetry/Monitor Technician must possess effective communication skills. This position will routinely perform Unit Secretary duties for the unit as assigned (see Unit Secretary Job Description). This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs ongoing observation of the cardiac monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms correctly.Detects and promptly reports changes in parameters monitoring cardiac rhythmsEnsure timely and accurate communication of patient information with all members of the health care teamArrhythmias-maintain strips and reporting changesDocuments clearly and accuratelyPerforms clerical duties efficiently and accurately (See Unit Secretary Job Description)Prioritize and assist with unit activities based on patient needs under the direction of the RNDemonstrate effective time management and organizational skillsAware of Watson Model of Care including key elements of Caring, Competence, Communication and commitment.Participates in unit-based initiatives that promote patient safety and support customer service goalsDemonstrates safe and effective use or computers, scanners, tube system, central station monitoring system, and telemetry transmittersGives all customers their full attention and treats them with dignity, respect and understandingPresents a clean, professional, well groomed imageWears name badge where visibleAdheres to dress policyDemonstrates sense of ownership, pays attention to details, and ensures all mandatory obligations are met.Is proactive, anticipates and responds to patient/family/co-workers needs, and demonstrates an energetic and positive approach at workIs sensitive to customer's physical, social, and cultural needsAny other duties assigned by Clinical Unit Supervisor POSITION REQUIREMENTS A. EducationHigh School Diploma or G.E.D Equivalency preferredB. Qualifications/ExperienceA minimum of 1 years working as a Telemetry Monitor Technician. Internal Candidate without the minimum experience that have completed the required training will be considered at management's discretion. C.
