DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
The Nurse Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of patient care. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Establish and maintain nursing policies and procedures. Management of patient care. Liaison with all LCMH departments. Provide guidance regarding clinical aspects of patient care. Responsible for Performance Improvement/ Continuous Quality Improvement Program of patient care. Coordinate mandatory LCMH in-services for staff and residents. Maintain inventory control. Responsible for equipment maintenance. Set procedural protocol and standards for all procedures. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
BSN in nursing required, MSN preferred. Minimum of 3 years of management experience within a health care organization required. Current license to practice Nursing in the State of Louisiana or multi-state compact license required. Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers, and medical personnel. Must be adaptable to change and receptive to delegated responsibilities; A spirit of cooperation, support and understanding for working with the program director, faculty, chief residents and center staff. Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work requires a variety of physical activities, including moving about within and outside of all hospital properties for long periods of time. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergent situations. May be required to assist in controlling disorderly conduct or combative patients. Must be able to exchange accurate information with patient, family, peers and medical personnel.
