Surgical Medical Coding Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Medical Coding Supervisor to lead our surgical coding team. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring coding accuracy and compliance, mentoring staff, and collaborating with clinical and administrative teams to support efficient revenue cycle management. Applicants must reside in TX, OK, AL, MO, GA, or FL. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and support a team of surgical medical coders, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met. Review and validate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for complex surgical procedures. Conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to payer guidelines. Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations for coding staff. Resolve coding discrepancies and collaborate with physicians and billing teams to clarify documentation. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, payer policies, and industry best practices. Develop and implement coding policies, workflows, and quality assurance protocols. Prepare reports on coding accuracy, productivity, and audit outcomes for leadership. Qualifications: Required: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent. Experience: Minimum 35 years of surgical coding experience, with at least 12 years in a supervisory or lead role. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, medical terminology, and anatomy. Proficiency in EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Athena) and coding software. Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $34.50 - $35.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
