Wilmington Health is committed to using collaborative, evidence-based medicine in providing the highest quality of care to the patients we serve.Purpose:Performs technical procedures using ultrasound waves that require independent judgment based on knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and the normal and abnormal variation.Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Verifies patients identification and physician's orders.Prepares patients for exams and explains procedures while performing studies.Obtains pertinent diagnostic examinations for physicians in relation to the ultrasound.Correlates the clinical history with the test to be performed.Consults with referring physicians regarding patient's previous history and decision of appropriate ultrasonic procedures required.Perform the ultrasound ensuring the transducer is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed.Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patientsMaintain patient records and add medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure.
