Position Overview
The Expediter plays a key role in ensuring customer orders are processed, tracked, and fulfilled in a timely manner. This position supports sales, manufacturing and shipping teams by closely monitoring work-in-progress and proactively following up with internal departments to meet delivery deadlines. The Expediter serves as a liaison between production, purchasing, customer service, and shipping to ensure parts and orders move efficiently through each stage of the manufacturing process to provide internal and external customers with delivery expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and track customer orders throughout the production lifecycle.
Follow up with internal departments (e.g., machining, assembly, quality, shipping) to ensure timely movement of parts.
Prioritize and locate delayed or urgent orders to meet customer deadlines.
Communicate regularly with Customer Service and Sales on order status updates.
Identify and escalate potential delays or bottlenecks in the production process.
Assist with scheduling adjustments and communicate priority changes to the shop floor.
Coordinate with inventory and materials teams to ensure availability of required components.
Support documentation and tracking of expedited orders in the ERP system.
Participate in daily production or scheduling meetings as needed.
Build tracking and reporting requirements where necessary.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment (Workholding or machining preferred).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and adapt to shifting priorities.
Basic understanding of ERP or production tracking systems.
Team-oriented, self-motivated, and highly proactive
Skills & Requirements
2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Strong understanding of production workflows, especially in machining or assembly
Excellent communication skills-both written and verbal
Proven ability to multitask and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable working on the shop floor and interfacing with multiple departments
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and basic data entry
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment.
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods throughout the facility
Frequent movement between production areas, including walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise, dust, and temperature variation
Ability to safely navigate around machinery and equipment
Use of standard office equipment and occasional computer work at a desk
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range: $21.00-$26.00/hr
