Link Transit is now hiring a Vehicle Maintenance Service Worker!

This full-time position cleans, fuels, services, washes, details and maintains transit vehicles in safe and proper working condition for public transportation services (aka cleaning and fueling buses for our Guests). Must have the ability to obtain a CDL (Link Transit will assist the successful candidates in this requirement including training and testing). This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing. Pay Range: $23.44 - $29.27 per hour (hiring wage is within the first three steps of the range $23.44 - $24.62).

Work Days/Hours:

This position will work Saturday and Sunday with two consecutive days off during the week. Weekday and Saturday hours will be 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM; Sunday hours will be 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM.

A three-year employment driving abstract (obtained from the Department of Licensing) is required for your application to be considered for this position.

This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing (including Marijuana).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

: Perform visual and physical checks of each vehicle to identify damage and special cleaning or repair needs. Clean the interior of mass transit vehicles including buses, vans, trucks, and automobiles to ensure that coaches are ready for service at beginning of morning shift; pick up trash and litter; vacuum, sweep mop floors; and wash windows making sure there are no water spots left behind.

Fuel, and charge vehicles including buses, vans, trucks, check water, oil and coolant levels and add fluids as needed.

Operate mass transit vehicles including buses, vans, trucks, and automobiles in non-revenue service directly related to fueling, washing, cleaning, servicing, and maintenance activities. plug in all electric vehicles.

Clean vehicle exteriors according to established schedules and special needs; wash vehicles using steam cleaners and pressure washer or running them through the bus wash.

Maintain records related to fuel usage, vehicle washing and cleaning, supply orders and other data. OTHER DUTIES :

Install snow chains during winter months.

Maintain work area clean and orderly condition.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and some janitorial or light mechanic experience.

Knowledge of: Methods and materials used in cleaning and maintaining automotive vehicles. Operation of hand and power tools used to clean and maintain mass transit vehicles. Basic recordkeeping methods. Workplace health and safety practices. Oral and written communication skills.

Ability to: Clean and maintain mass transit vehicles in clean and safe working order for public transportation service. Drive and move vehicles from one location to another for fueling, repairs and other non-revenue purposes. Observe established health and safety regulations. Perform light physical work for extended periods of time. Work cooperatively and effectively with others. Operate hand and power tools used in cleaning, servicing and maintaining buses, vans, trucks and automobiles. Identify and report vehicle damage and repair needs. Work day, swing or graveyard shifts including weekends and holidays as assigned. Follow oral and written directions. Supplemental Information

Working Environment: Duties are primarily performed in outdoor environments which includes working in extreme hot and cold conditions. Duties require moving mass transit vehicles from one location to another for cleaning and servicing, and incumbents are subject to adverse weather conditions, fumes from cleaning agents and vehicle exhaust, and noise from vehicle and equipment operation.

Physical Demands: Essential functions require standing, walking, lifting objects weighing up to 60 pounds, stooping, bending, reaching, and climbing stairs and ladders. Health Insurance:

Retirement:

All eligible employees of Link Transit are required to participate in the Washington State Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS). Employees are not covered under the Social Security System except for a 1.45% payment for Medicare.

Employees are eligible to participate in a 457 savings plan with an employer match of up to 6.2% of annual compensation plus an additional $1 per hour for eligible employees up to a maximum of 2,080 hours annually paid by Link.

Paid Leave:

Link Transit provides paid general leave for all eligible employees - accrual starts at 9 hours per pay period at time of hire. Additional leave accrues after every five years of service.
