Avery Products is seeking an

Trade Compliance Manager

with expertise in U.S. import/export operations, global trade compliance, logistics, transportation, and process improvement. This role requires a self-motivated professional with exceptional problem-solving skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

As a key member of our trade compliance and logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting classification and HTS processes, managing vendor communications, and driving continuous improvement across our global supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

Trade Compliance & Customs Operations

Ensure adherence to all applicable U.S., Mexican, and Canadian trade regulations.

Familiar with export relations such as the export control numbers, EAR 99 regulations

Submit HTS classifications, NAFTA/USMCA certifications, ruling requests, value reconciliation, and Country of determinations.

Coordinate and document classification and valuation processes with Customs Brokers.

Manage Post-Summary Corrections, assist reconciliation, and CBP-related communications (e.g., CF28).

Lead and document classification decisions across finished goods, raw materials, and equipment.

Serve as the primary liaison for U.S. Customs Brokers, U.S. Customs Account Manager, internal teams, and external partners.

Import/Export Documentation & Procedures

Review and maintain documentation for import/export transactions in compliance with U.S. Customs requirements.

Audit and process shipment entries and maintain accurate e-records for all transactions (5-year retention).

Support and enhance recordkeeping processes (e.g., integration of e-files and hardcopy backups).

Maintain and update department manuals and procedures related to compliance.

Cross-Border & Interdepartmental Coordination

Work closely with Mexico and Canada counterparts to ensure consistent HTS, Free Trade Agreement (USMCA) and Country of determinations.

Participate in vendor outreach and ensure accurate documentation from suppliers.

Collaborate with engineering, finance, packaging design, manufacturing teams and acquired entities on compliance-related issues.

Continuous Improvement & Process Ownership

Own and manage the Classification module in Integration Point; suggest enhancements to increase efficiency and compliance.

Drive lean and continuous improvement initiatives across customs processes.

Provide training on Integration Point and trade compliance topics.

Maintain and monitor performance metrics for brokers, suppliers, and internal departments.

Strategic Support

Partner with Product Managers, Engineering, and Finance on new product launches, BOM reviews, and special projects.

Lead Bill 198 testing, ISA self-assessments, and Customs audits.

Support the VP of Finance and other leadership roles with strategic initiatives and compliance-related data analysis.

Qualifications:

Valid U.S. Customs Broker License

At least 5 years of hands-on experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, import/export operations, and logistics

Strong knowledge of HTS classification, ECCN#, valuation, NAFTA/USMCA, and other trade agreements

Proficient in ACE, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational, and problem-solving skills

Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and follow-through

Proven experience in process improvement and cross-functional collaboration

Willingness to learn and stay current with global trade regulations and industry trends

Skills:

Familiarity with CTPAT, SOX, and ISA protocols, Import and Export Regulations

Knowledge of HTS classification, 19 CFR, USMCA Free Trade Agreement, ECCN#

Experience supporting export compliance and coordinating with international manufacturing plants

Training and mentoring experience in trade compliance tools and software

Knowledge of packaging compliance and country-of- labeling per FTC/CBP standards
