Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team. This role requires minimal supervision and demands strong knowledge of the construction industry and estimating best practices. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in heavy civil, DOT/municipal, concrete paving, earthworks, underground utilities, and structural projects across both public and private sectors.
The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with estimating team members and executive leadership to support strategic bidding efforts and ensure accurate, competitive, and comprehensive project estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor industry bid publications and client RFQs to identify potential opportunities for pursuit. Review and interpret project plans and specifications to ensure complete scope coverage. Develop or review general conditions, project schedules, scopes of work, and site logistics plans. Perform and support quantity takeoffs, pricing, and budget development; maintain digital records of takeoffs. Collaborate with internal teams throughout all stages of project estimating (conceptual through final). Lead and support:
Estimating process execution Contract and scope of work reviews Subcontractor evaluations and selections Estimating-related purchase orders Change request and change order pricing Project budgeting and value engineering efforts
Review final estimates for accuracy and participate in executive-level bid review meetings. Support job cost tracking and forecasting post-project award; visit job sites as necessary. Work with project managers and field teams to develop monthly revenue and cost forecasts. ssist in resolving estimating or cost-related issues during project execution. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and attend relevant workshops or professional events.
Qualifications:
Minimum
5 years
of experience in
heavy civil construction estimating
(required) Proficiency in
Viewpoint Construction Software
(1+ years required) Strong working knowledge of:
Microsoft Office Suite Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat HCSS (HeavyBid)
Preferred (not required): familiarity with AutoCAD, Agtek, MicroStation High school diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree preferred)
