SUMMARY

Maintenance Technician repairs and maintains machines, equipment, plumbing, heating and air conditioning systems. A maintenance technician keeps all structures in working order through maintenance and repairs. Some duties include pipe fitting, insulating, boiler making, welding, carpentry, machining, repairing electrical or mechanical equipment, installing new equipment, and repairing walls, floors and stairs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform preventive maintenance on guestrooms, meeting rooms, restaurant, spa, per checklist and document all work performed.

Responds to all guest’s requests in a timely and efficient manner.

Clearly explains to guests and employees how to properly operate or use resort equipment.

Understand and follow all job guidelines and safety requirements.

Perform major and minor repairs on all resort equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, plumbing, pool equipment, and HVAC.

Repair exterior low voltage lighting, landscape lighting and adjust time clocks.

Have basic understanding of resort life safety systems such as fire panel, emergency generator, electrical panel, sprinkler system.

Actively participates in Safety Programs and abides by all injury reporting and safety behavior requirements

Performs all Engineering operations even in the absence of Engineering Supervisor and/ or Chief Engineer.

Participates in and supports hotels efforts towards community service, sustainability and environmental initiatives.

Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

High school diploma or GED-equivalent.

Minimum of 3 years experience in General maintenance

Basic knowledge of carpentry, glass replacement, painting, masonry, appliance repair, and electrical wiring, standard practices and tools used in the maintenance and repair of building facilities.

Knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to the building trades.

Basic math able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

Maintenance experience in a hospitality environment.

Experience in written and verbal English communication skills.

Ability to communicate in English with vendors, guests and staff, to their understanding

Desirable

HVAC certification

Certificate from a technical school or college program.

SKILLS

Required

Effectively use a variety of hand and power tools.

Ability to review and identify projects that will or may need to be escalated to outside contractors.

Follow oral and written instructions; able to communicate in both oral and written form.

Maintain work logs.

Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Desirable

Ability to communicate in a second .

Certification in CPR and First Aid.

Carpentry, Electrical, AC Certification a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.

Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.

Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.

3.Frequent need to stand for long periods of time.

Lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally.

Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.

Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.

Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff.

Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.

Salary : $25.00 per hour
