The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist plays a critical role in managing and overseeing the entire accounts payable process to ensure timely and accurate payment of invoices. This position is responsible for maintaining strong vendor relationships while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role requires meticulous attention to detail to verify invoice accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and manage payment schedules effectively. The Senior Accounts Payable Specialist will collaborate closely with internal departments such as procurement and finance to support month-end closing and financial reporting activities. Ultimately, this role contributes to the financial health of the organization by optimizing cash flow and maintaining accurate financial records. Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, internal controls, and compliance standards. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite. Knowledge of tax regulations related to accounts payable, including 1099 reporting. Certification such as Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) or similar. Previous experience in a senior or lead accounts payable role. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and payment requests in accordance with company policies. Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies or issues with vendors and internal teams. Prepare and execute timely payments via check, electronic transfer, or other methods while maintaining accurate records. Collaborate with procurement and finance departments to ensure proper documentation and approval workflows are followed. Assist with month-end closing activities, including accruals and account reconciliations related to accounts payable. Maintain vendor files and ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, including 1099 reporting. Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the accounts payable function.
