Job Type Full-timeDescriptionJOB SUMMARY:Responsible for operation of central monitor station in MedSurg/PCU. Continuous observation of all patient parameters for patients on telemetry throughout the hospital including the ER. Reporting of patient changes to the responsible nurse and/or physicianESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:•Oversee cardiac monitoring of all patients by maintaining operation of the central monitoring station and monitoring software systems.•Tasked with preparing, maintaining, and interpreting telemetry waveform data.•Monitors patients and collects information with regards to observing and interpreting cardiac rhythms that need to be documented in the medical record.•Maintain constant communication with nursing staff/providers regarding patient cardiac rhythms and changes in cardiac rhythm status.•Maintain proper documentation in accordance with department and facility standards and requirements of regulatory bodies.•Perform basic clerical duties as required.•Ensure cleanliness of unit, compliant with infection control and equipment is working properly ensures monitor alarms are "on" when patient is on unit.•Must possess troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring the problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem.•Inventory and maintain supplies and equipment as needed.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:•As assigned.KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:•Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.RISK MANAGEMENT/QUALITY MANAGEMENT/SAFETY: Cooperates fully in all Risk Management, Quality Management, and Safety Activities and Investigations.MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:? Education - High school diploma or equivalent.? Work Experience - More than one year in an acute or long-term care setting preferred.? Training - Must have knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology and in-depth knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology and interpretation of cardiac arrhythmias.? License/Certification - Monitor Technician Course preferred. Successful completion of the Monitor Technician course with a score of 80% or higher within the first 6 months of employment. Current BLS required.ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.Salary Description $15.00 - $24.00 HR DOE
