JOB SUMMARY The Client Support Specialist is a healthcare support role primarily responsible for providing basic assistance to individuals recovering from illness or injury in a dedicated "recuperative care" facility, which often focuses on individuals experiencing homelessness or unstable housing, assisting with daily living activities, monitoring health status, and facilitating connections to necessary medical and social services while ensuring their comfort and safety during their recovery period.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Personal Care Assistance:

Assisting with meal preparation and feeding.

Monitoring vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse).

Health Monitoring and Support:

Observing and reporting any changes in client condition to medical staff.

Administering medications as directed by a licensed healthcare professional.

Reminding clients to take medications as scheduled.

Assisting with wound care and dressing changes as needed

Client Support and Engagement:

Providing companionship and emotional support to clients.

Engaging clients in social activities and promoting their independence

Assisting with communication needs for clients with language barriers

Administrative Tasks:

Maintaining accurate client records and documentation

Completing daily shift reports and incident reports

Stocking supplies and maintaining cleanliness of the facility

Care Coordination:

Coordinating with healthcare providers to ensure clients receive necessary medical appointments and follow-up care.

Assisting with transportation arrangements for medical appointments

Connecting clients with social services like housing assistance, benefits applications, and mental health support

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Compassionate and patient demeanor:

Ability to work with individuals who may be experiencing physical or emotional challenges.

Basic understanding of healthcare practices

Knowledge of infection control, vital signs monitoring, and basic first aid

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 2 weeks of hiring

Strong communication skills:

Effective verbal and written communication to interact with clients, medical staff, and other team members

Ability to work independently and as part of a team:

Collaborate with other staff members while taking initiative to complete tasks

Physical ability to assist with daily living activities:

Lifting, transferring, and supporting clients with mobility needs
