Client Residences (In-Home Support Settings) Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) – In-Home Support provides compassionate, individualized assistance to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) within their own homes. The DSP supports clients in maintaining independence, dignity, and quality of life while ensuring their health, safety, and personal goals are met through daily routines, meaningful activities, and community access. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist individuals with
activities of daily living (ADLs)
such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, meal preparation, feeding, and mobility support.
Perform light housekeeping and support clients with maintaining a clean, safe, and organized home environment.
Follow and implement individualized service plans (ISPs), care plans, and behavioral support strategies specific to in-home needs.
Monitor client wellness, administer medications as authorized, and document observations or incidents accurately and promptly.
Promote skill-building and independence in areas such as budgeting, cooking, household chores, and personal hygiene.
Provide companionship and emotional support while encouraging community inclusion through activities such as shopping, recreation, or attending appointments.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in agency systems (e.g., Xoomia or other electronic health records).
Respect client privacy and boundaries while maintaining professional conduct within the home.
Communicate with supervisors, healthcare providers, family members, and team members to coordinate care and share updates.
Support clients in practicing safety routines, emergency preparedness, and responsible decision-making.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
Previous experience in in-home care, direct support, or caregiving preferred.
Certifications:
CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration certification (or willingness to complete upon hire).
Driver’s License:
Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation if client transport is required.
Background Check:
Must successfully pass all required background checks and registry clearances.

May involve irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on client needs.
Exposure to a variety of home environments and client care needs, including personal care and behavioral support.
