Overview:

A prominent international law firm is seeking a

Legal Recruitment Manager

to lead all aspects of attorney recruiting and hiring within its New York office. This role is responsible for managing law student, judicial clerk, and lateral recruitment processes, as well as supervising the local legal recruiting team.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with excellent project management skills, deep knowledge of legal recruitment cycles, and a commitment to a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

Core Responsibilities:

Recruitment Strategy & Management

Direct full-cycle attorney recruitment: summer associates, entry-level, and laterals.

Collaborate with hiring partners and department leadership to meet office-specific hiring goals.

Supervise and develop legal recruiting coordinators and assistants. Summer Associate Program

Design and manage the Summer Program, including onboarding, training, evaluations, events, and mentorship programs.

Partner with attorneys across practice areas to generate meaningful assignments and learning opportunities.

Coordinate the summer offer process in partnership with leadership and hiring committees. Law School & Clerkship Hiring

Manage on-campus interview programs and related law school outreach efforts.

Support recruitment branding initiatives and maintain relationships with law schools.

Align recruitment efforts with diversity and inclusion goals in partnership with internal DEI teams. Lateral Hiring

Manage lateral hiring for non-partner attorneys in the local office.

Coordinate outreach, interviews, conflicts, due diligence, and onboarding.

Maintain strong relationships with search firms and hiring stakeholders. Reporting & Compliance

Prepare and manage the recruiting budget; track and resolve discrepancies.

Maintain accurate data and reporting for internal and external purposes.

Ensure compliance with recruiting policies and regulatory standards. Firmwide Collaboration

Participate in department-wide and firmwide projects and initiatives.

Collaborate with peers across offices to align processes, tools, and best practices.

Stay up to date on legal recruiting trends and provide insight and innovation. Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of experience in attorney or legal recruitment, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience.

Prior law firm or professional services environment preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong leadership and people management skills.

Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational and project management abilities.

Proficiency with recruiting platforms and virtual interview tools (e.g., viRecruit, LawCruit, Flo Recruit, Zoom).

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.
