Full-Time About the Role: We are seeking a detail-oriented
Mechanical Designer
with strong experience in
Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
to support a variety of engineering and design projects. This position plays a critical role in translating engineering concepts into clear, accurate, and buildable design documentation, especially for process-driven systems. This is a hands-on design role— no PE license required —ideal for a self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and has a solid foundation in mechanical systems and CAD-based design. Key Responsibilities: Create and revise
P&IDs , piping layouts, and mechanical system drawings in accordance with project and industry standards.
Support engineers in the development of design packages, including general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, and piping isometrics.
Prepare and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs), equipment tags, and drawing lists.
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including process, electrical, and civil designers.
Conduct field visits to gather as-built information or verify design compatibility.
Maintain drawing documentation and support version control throughout the project lifecycle.
Assist in QA/QC review of drawing packages prior to submittals.
Required Qualifications: Associate degree in Drafting, Mechanical Design Technology, or equivalent experience.
One year of experience as a mechanical designer, including direct
P&ID drafting and interpretation .
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or similar CAD platforms.
Familiarity with mechanical systems such as piping, HVAC, tanks, pumps, and valves.
Strong attention to detail and understanding of industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with industrial, power plant, or MEP projects.
Working knowledge of 3D modeling and coordination tools.
Experience with document control systems and project workflows.
Ability to take redlines and sketches and develop them into final design documents.
