POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Mechanic performs tasks such as troubleshooting, repair, and installation of production and support equipment. This position handles general repair work and maintenance on all mechanical components, machinery, motors, and associated hardware, assisting with the assembly and installation of new equipment for electrical and mechanical areas. This position also performs routine preventive maintenance and servicing tasks such as cleaning, adjusting and inspections on mechanical equipment and assists with production and support equipment design, fabrication, installation and training. Primary Responsibilities • Troubleshoots and repairs existing equipment along with completing preventive maintenance. Some additional welding, plumbing, carpentry, and minor electrical work will also be necessary • Design, fabricate, assemble and install, parts, fixtures or entire assemblies as requested by Engineering or Department Managers • Initiates necessary parts request form for unstocked parts so repairs can be completed. This requires the employee to research equipment files, blueprints, and machine history to determine part numbers or identification of required parts • Prepares and maintains documentation of drawings, layouts, time sheets, work orders and cost reduction or safety proposals

Education Requirements • High school diploma or GED equivalent and, two or more years of technical training within the field, or equivalent education & experience

Minimum Experience Required • One (1) year previous work experience as a mechanic in an industrial or similar environment.

License(s) and/or Certification(s) Required • n/a

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required • Ability to accurately diagnose, troubleshoot and repair various types of equipment for both production and support of the plant • Ability to accurately read, write, perform mathematical calculations • Understands verbal or written instructions, and can provide verbal or written information and instructions to others • Ability to work continuous shift if requested, and work scheduled and unscheduled overtime along with maintaining a good attendance record • Strong interpersonal skills • Ability to use hand and power tools and operate all types of electronic troubleshooting equipment while following safety and health rules and maintaining housekeeping in areas of responsibility • Must be able to distinguish colors correctly and read electrical schematics
