The purpose of this job is to ensure the daily, safe, efficient and effective operations of all plant equipment and machinery in accordance with established policies and procedures. This includes ongoing facility maintenance, completing repairs on equipment, confirming safety standards, scheduling repairs, and assisting with construction of production and building facilities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

Experience with equipment maintenance is required.

Experience in stainless steel tig welding is required.

Experience in electrical or plumbing is a plus.

Welding Certificate from Vo-Tech trade school is a plus.

Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed.

Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

JOB DUTIES:

Support continuous improvement in all aspects of production through performing all duties as assigned by Maintenance Supervisor and Plant Management such as but not limited to:

Examine, test, maintain and repair all physical plant machinery and equipment to assure safe and efficient operations

Inspect, maintain and repair cooling and heating systems

Repair and install pipes, fittings, fixtures and other plumbing duties as required

Maintain and repair pumps, valves and motors as required by management

Record and log maintenance repairs and inspections

Process work orders as assigned incorporating and prioritizing needs according to overall effect on plant operations

Perform preventive maintenance tasks for plant machinery and equipment, the physical plant, utilities and grounds to assure the safe and efficient operation in accordance with state, federal, local regulations and company procedures

Construct and repair production facilities, including building, structure walls, floors, cabinets and fixtures

Follow good housekeeping practices for maintenance and production areas such as washing, cleaning and maintaining tools and other equipment.

Assist in maintenance, improvements and safe conditions of facility and grounds by mowing and trimming grounds, snow and ice removal from company sidewalks and driveways, painting and sanitation tasks.

Operate lifts, industrial trucks and non-motorized pallet jacks as required.

Assist in ensuring fundamental food safety and quality practices are maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support ongoing improvements of food safety programs.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Electrical knowledge ranging from 110 Volts of power to 480 Volts (3 phase)

Ability to operate industrial equipment such as hand wrenches, welders, power tools, cutting torch, and tape measure

Ability to drive and maintain a valid driver license

Ability to utilize math skills, including a variety of calculations

Ability to legibly document data for record keeping purposes

Ability to read and record data from various gauges

Analytical ability related to complex information and problem solving

Ability to understand wire diagrams, construction plans and diagrams

Ability to implement all safety procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures

Ability to understand and communicate technical information through use of written documentation or verbal presentation

Knowledge of organizational methods and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously

Ability to operate all plant and office equipment necessary to accomplish job duties such as computers, office telephones including voice mail features, fax machines

Ability to work daily shift, weekends and extended hours as needed

General and specific knowledge and abilities in the following areas:

Welding of different alloys, including stainless steel

Equipment knowledge, including bearings, shaft, bolt, nut, wrench and belt sizes

Understanding metal sizes, including I beams, H beams, and angle sizes

Ability to recognize food safety violations or product quality issues and resolve immediately or, if unable to resolve, notify Plant Manager and/or the Quality Control Supervisor.

Ability to assist other work-related areas as requested

In the absence of a Maintenance Technician, other technicians or supervisors will cover the duties of the role

BASIC MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to handle multiple tasks and understand mechanical and electrical equipment operations as required. Must comprehend, understand, and use mathematical and calculation skills, good reading, speaking and writing skills, and have an ability to analyze and comprehend complex information. In addition, must be able to work independently, set priorities, determine work assignments and work methods. Responsible for materials, equipment, company property, and work that is completed.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND EXPOSURES:

General manufacturing working conditions exist. Exposures include but are not limited to chemicals, caustic, temperatures ranging from freezing to extreme heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment/machinery. Occasional outside work with varying seasonal temperatures. Will be required to stand for extended periods of time on slippery tile and/or concrete floors. Will be exposed to different chemicals used during production and cleanup. Occasional outside work with varying seasonal temperatures.
