OVERVIEW

The Millwright is responsible for operating all of the basic machine tools and specialized variation tools to perform precision machining operations.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform mechanical repairs to pumps, compressors, gearboxes, centrifugals, valves, and screw conveyors, etc.

Machine components to specifications with a high degree of precision using machines tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders

Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and specialized variation tools to perform precision machining operations

Set up or operate metalworking, welding, or cutting equipment

Use precision measuring tools including Micrometers, Vernier calipers, Hand or spring calipers, depth gauges, etc.

Inspect sample parts, read and interpret schematics and blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances

Prepare working sketches for the illustration of product appearance

Maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, layout, and machining procedures

Support maintenance projects through assembly, inspection, and testing, using knowledge of machine functions and metal properties

Troubleshoot, rebuild, install and align pumps with different seal assemblies

Dismantle equipment and remove parts for repair using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, or hoists

Read work orders and interpret equipment manuals and specifications to determine machines

Record all repairs and maintenance performed as well as parts or materials used, and requisition new parts or materials as necessary

Performs assigned duties while observing safety standards and good housekeeping requirements including proper care of tools, materials and equipment

All other duties as assigned

WORK EXPERIENCES

Three (3) years of experience working as a machinist in a shop environment or related setting

Must be willing to weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed

Must possess a machinist toolkit set (i.e. micrometers, calipers, inside and outside, etc.)

Preferred knowledge of CNC programming setup and operating CNC milling centers and turning centers

Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form

Practical application of fractions, percentages, ration and proportion, logarithms, practical algebra, geometric construction, and essentials of trigonometry

Must be able to write instructions in moderate to simple sentences to provide manufacturing information

Must be able to communicate technical information between tool design and manufacturing activities

Must know how to use Engine Lathes, horizontal mills, bridge ports, key seeder, drill press

Must be able to pass verbal, written and hands on machining test

Must be able to use all hand tools and chain falls

Must be able to read blueprints and basic instructions

Must have or be able to obtain a Forklift certification

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred

Vocational training in machine shop equipment operation, assembly, and general manufacturing preferred
